PLACES // SOME THINGS ARE UNDESIGNED

John Wood & PauL Harrison - SOME THINGS ARE UNDESIGNED - nov 7, 2015 - jan 23, 2016 von bartha basel

The pleasure of taking things apart is what drives the creative urge of John Wood and Paul Harrison. Both their videos and sculptures can be enjoyed as thouroughly staged performances - until you realize that what really matters to them is emphasizing the role of random accidents, of design failures, in short of everything that "is not quite working properly". In their latest show at Von Barth Basel the audience feels like a tiny steel ball in a machine, oscillating between reassurance and threats. One minute you notice their use of accepted colour palettes of contemporary design - the other you realize that Wood and Harrison's experiments are tearing the language and conventions of design to pieces.

15 March,2014 TAR MAGAZINE DIGITAL EDITION IS BORN

INTRO // XXI Century's so small. Are we big enough?

This edition of TAR is universal in its meaning, specific in its making. It’s not for everyone. It’s not for the candid nor for the conscious. TAR magazine’s digital edition is for those confident in misunderstanding, passionate about diversity, for the fanciful ones who feel at ease especially when off-balanced. TAR is about giving the soul a spin; it’s about the gorgeous occasion of cultures clashing and mixing and meshing, running ever more and more fast. TAR is a tremendous flight of fantasy for those who need to plan a way to escape from this planet or to save it.

TAR is the sticky stuff we pave our roads and build our roofs with.

It affords us travel and shelters us from the storm. It is also an anagram of the word art.
